boats were registered under the British Australian Register or the Australian
Registerof Ships. The third column "Off No" lists the official
number that |
|
|
|
|
|
| corresponds
to such registration. This official number is carved on the vessel on a main
beam, bulkhead or, in at least one vessel that I have seen, on a stringer in
the WC. |
|
|
|
|
|
| If
you can find an official number, then you are well on your way. Records for
vessels on these registers are held by the Registrar of Australian Ships in
Canberra, the |

|
|
|
|
| Australian
National Maritime Museum Library and other libraries around Australia. There
is often a wealth of information available in the register. |
